This tour will take you through Maasai Mara National Reserve which is globally famous for its exceptional population of lions, leopards and cheetahs, and the annual migration of zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, and wildebeest to and from the Serengeti every year from July to October, known as the Great Migration.
Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant, and it is for this reason a visitor hardly misses to see the big five (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhino). You will also explore L. Naivasha National Park, L. Nakuru National Park, Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks which are hosts to a variety of wildlife.
Depart from Nairobi to Masai Mara game reserve with stopover at the Great Rift Valley which runs from Jordan to Mozambique across Africa. Continue driving on through Longonot and Suswa and on to the Western walls with another stopover at Narok for lunch before arriving in the Masai Mara in time for evening game drive in the Mara the most popular park in Kenya. In this park you will have the chance to spot the Big five (Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Buffalo and Rhinos).Then return to the Camp/hotel/lodge late in time for dinner.
On the second day in Maasai Mara game reserve you will spend a full day in the park. Driving across the plains in search for the big cats (black manned lions, Cheetahs and leopards with picnic lunch served at the Mara River famously known for the wildebeest migration). Have your meals as you watch the hippos and crocodiles lying along the river. Vast herds of wildebeest and zebra wander across the Mara grasslands in huge numbers during this period of the annual migrations take place, when millions of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle traverse the Mara plains landscape to feed on the rich new grass from the Serengeti.
You also have a chance to see other plain game like the Topi, hearbeast, Eland. Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Later dinner and overnight at the camp/lodge/hotel.
Early morning game drive and depart from Maasai Mara National Reserve to L. Naivasha National Park by road. The park provides a variety of wildlife, unusual flora and many species of birds and is one of the only two Kenyan Parks where climbing, walking and biking are allowed. Animals seen here include Bushbucks, Dikdiks, Gazelles, Gnus, Hartebeests, Impalas, Klipspringers, Buffaloes, Hyraxes, Zebras, Hyenas, Jackals, Mongooses, Baboons, Monkeys and Porcupines amongst others.
The park has historically been an important home for the rare lammergeyer vultures. Over 103 species of birds have been recorded in this park, including vultures, Verreaux’s Eagles. Transfer to the Lodge/hotel for Check in and Lunch at the lodge/hotel.
Afternoon at Leisure to enjoy various activities available at the Lodge/hotel such as swimming, walking, horse riding or cycling at leisure. Later have dinner and overnight.
Early morning game drive and depart to Lake Nakuru National park. After lunch depart for a game drive as the park is home to stunning flocks of lesser flamingos which literary turns the lake shores into a magnificent pink stretch here most birds that breed in the lakes Alkaline waters can be seen (over 450 species of birds) and wildlife are also found. This park is popularly regarded as the "Bird Watchers Paradise”. The park is famous for its high population of greater and lesser flamingoes and it was first gazetted in 1960 as a bird’s sanctuary, before it was upgraded to a full National park in 1968. Apart from great numbers of birds the Park is also home to plain game animals and also with luck one can set eye on the rare White rhinoceros, or the Rothschild giraffe. Still, lucky enough you may come out of the park triumphant having spotted the 'BIG FIVE'. Dinner and overnight at the lodge/hotel.
Depart from L. Nakuru National Park to Tsavo East National Park. Once you arrive at the lodge check in and rest. Later in the evening depart the lodge and start the Evening game drive. Here you will get a chance to see different wild animals especially Giraffes, Zebras, Buffaloes, lots of Elephants and if you’re lucky you will see the Big CATS. Later dinner and Overnight at the lodge/hotel.
Early morning game drive to capture the sun rise and also it's a good chance to see the BIG CATS either hunting or hunted and feasting on a kill especially lions. Later breakfast, park and depart to Tsavo West National Park. The Park is a vast expansion of African savanna with a more diverse array of habitats which include open plains, semi desert scrub, woodland, Chyulu Hills and rock outcrops. It’s famous for the Red Elephants, Oryx, and Gerenuk among other mammal’s species and bird life. Other notable features include Mzima Springs which are water source for Mombasa Town, Shetani Lava Flow and Ash cones, which is an example of recent volcanic eruption. Check in and have lunch at your lodge. Later in the afternoon go for more game drives later dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Early breakfast and go on a game drive in the park. Later check out for the return journey back to Nairobi.
