Tour Itinerary
Welcome to Kenya!
On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and assisted by a representative from KAYLAN TOURS & TRAVEL. After a short safari briefing on the events ahead, meet our expert safari guide. Start exploring this beautiful country as you travel to Samburu National Reserve which lies 320 km north of Nairobi on the arid fringes of the vast northern region of Kenya. En route, you will have lunch at Trout Tree Restaurant. Arrive at Samburu in the afternoon and embark on a game viewing drive before later being transferred to your safari camp set on the banks of Ewaso Nyiro River.
The Samburu region is the best place to find several endemic Northern species, including Gerenuk, the Reticulated Giraffe, and Grevy’s Zebra. The forests along the river banks are home to many birds, including local species such as the Palm Nut Vulture and the Vinaceous Dove. These forests are also home to many Leopards, often seen at dusk. The sight of one of these beautiful and elusive creatures is always a rare treat. Lions are also frequently seen on the riverbanks, and Cheetah can be found on the open plains. On rare occasion, packs of African Hunting Dogs are sighted passing through the reserve.
Overnight – Samburu National Reserve

Today discover the rugged, unending scenes of Samburu, the raw beauty and diverse ecosystem, where enormous herds of elephant traverse the vast, arid landscape and leopard den in the rocky outcrops. Start with an early morning game drive into Samburu National Reserve to seek out the ‘Samburu Special Five’: the reticulated giraffe, the Grevy zebra, the beisa oryx, the Somali ostrich and the gerenuk; all rare species that occur only in this part of the country. Look out for its well-known larger wildlife including elephants, lion and leopard. Enjoy a picnic lunch before heading back to the lodge to relax for the afternoon.

Your journey now takes you to Ol Pejeta Conservancy situated between the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdares. Relax at leisure enjoying the hotel facilities before venturing to the park for a game viewing drive until sunset.
Find yourself in this land of the Big Five as you explore 90,000 acres of pure wild with an experienced guide who will share his expert knowledge with you. You will encounter elephants, wild dog, lion, hyena, buffalo, cheetah, rhino, and all the plains herbivores. Ol Pejeta Conservancy has some of the highest predator densities in the region, and aside from the big cats, there is a chance of seeing wild dogs. Other endangered species here include the Beisa Oryx, Jackson's hartebeest and Grevy's zebra. The highlights include the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa; a population of southern white rhino; a refuge for the last two northern white rhino left in the world; and Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, housing orphaned and abandoned chimpanzees.

Lake Nakuru National Park is Kenya's first and largest rhino sanctuary where sightings of both black and white rhino are almost guaranteed. The park is also well known for its bird life and offers a possibility to view flamingos. It is also home to the endangered Rothschild Giraffe. This day you will have an early start at 6am with a wake-up call. Tea and biscuits are served at sunrise as you head off on your early-morning game-drive. After about two hours, return to your lodge / tented camp for a hearty breakfast.
At around 10am you will have a mid-morning game drive followed by lunch. Afternoon is at leisure before setting out for the last game viewing drive of the day (starts at 4pm). Alternatively, taking packed picnic lunch box from the lodge / tented with you, explore Masai Mara on a full day game viewing drive. In between the wildlife activities relax and take a swim in the lodge / camp’s pool providing uninterrupted views of the majestic African bush.
